What To Expect

Your first appointment with us will consist of a thorough evaluation by Dr. Khan. The pulp of your tooth will be examined using an array of diagnostic tests and imaging. Some cases will need to be evaluated with Cone Beam Computerized Tomagraphy (3D) imaging. This will be required for all re-treatment cases and upper molars as the anatomies have complexities. Other situations will be case by case. Dr. Khan strives to not expose you to unnecessary radiation or costs during your treatment.

Whenever possible, treatment may begin on the same day of your initial visit if it suits your preference. However, we cannot guarantee you this will be the case. Many times the treatment will need to be scheduled at a second appointment due to complexities that are present. If you are in pain during your initial visit, Dr. Khan will do everything possible to alleviate the pain by at the very least initiating the treatment to begin calming the tooth down.

Often, the root canal treatment procedure can be completed in one visit. If the infection is severe or the case is complex, multiple sessions may be necessary. If multiple appointments are needed, it does not increase the cost of treatment to you. Once the root canal treatment is completed, you will be referred back to your general dentist for the final restoration. This step is crucial to protect the tooth from fracture as well as to prevent bacterial contamination of the root canal system we are trying so hard to disinfect. If the case involves a questionable prognosis or a large lesion, Dr. Khan will have you return for follow up visits to monitor the healing over the course of several months or even several years.

We Look Forward To Being of Service to You!
